This isn't the right answer. There is no first 8 GB partition limitation for OS 9 or MacOS, the limitation is for OS X on certain models of older Macs, and the Digital Audio is not one of these older Macs that have this firmware limitation. It's nice that you've got OS 9 booting, but you should be able to boot OS 9 from any size partition in any location on the HD on a Digital Audio, so your success is coincidence rather than cause & effect.
