AFAIK, some apps that are able to run both under Classic (OS9) and OSX,
allow to declare which one you prefer.
Maybe the PS7 that Les is trying to use, is set to run under Classic.

Get Info (File menu in Finder) on the PS7 icon, you should see in the middle
of the Info window an option like "Open in Classic environment": make sure
it's off, and try again.

An OS9 installation would be waaaay smaller than any OSX.

Besides, running an OS9 (Classic) app in "real" OS9 is usually faster than
running it inside Classic (Classic is an emulation, albeit a very good one,
and any emulation introduce slowdown).
