Hi Robert, thanks for the feedback. I apologize for forgetting vital time-saving tips :( You know, when you do something often enough, details become routine and thus unimportant. But in the end you managed to fix things and you learnt a lot from doing so - all's well that ends well ;)
In the meantime I noticed that the current release has a strange problem which got fixed in the latest beta - this beta release can be found here: http://gparted-forum.surf4.info/viewtopic.php?id=313 Just in case you happen to need it again before the next official release appears on sourceforge. The only thing that didn't work last time I used g4u was using my PCI-E Marvell Yukon Gigabit Ethernet NIC. That was even worse because it was a notebook so I couldn't just plug in another NIC :) (Yes, I know about PC-Card NICs, but Murphy's Law kicked in - no fresh hardware on weekends over here *g*) > Thanks for the tips and I hope this long narrative will help someone > else and save them some time.
