Hi Anouke.
There is certainly news about this on audiogames.net, though if someone who
is a more regular applevis user could pass this on there that would be very
helpful, sinse I'm not even registered on their forums and other than
dropping the odd comment on a game's entry haven't really used the community
features of the site at all (too much on other communities like this one and
audiogames.net).
About Star traders 1, it did used to be the case that you couldn't navigate
without a mission, however that has very much changed in the last few
updates.
There is now a navigator planet list, which lists all the planets in order
of closest first. Also, if you go onto the cargo screenn in your ship's
status, you can navigate to positions of any rumours you've found or indeed
missions, which is very useful for checking out important information you
find in the spice hall.
I will admit the game is not easy, but that is because it is a complex and
highly intricate game more than because of any access issues.
The only major problem I have with the game at the moment is there is no way
to know what faction a given planet belongs to other than going there, or if
it is a capital, civilized or fringe planet, which makes planning routes
across space somewhat tortuous, but it's by no means a total put off.
I'm looking forward to what I read of star traders 2, particularly what they
say about npcs and quests.
I should see about a podcast about the game at some stage.
All the best,
Dark.

project
Hey Dark! Thanks a lot for that update. I have never gotten al that far in
star traders, found the interface a bit confusing, and were you ever able
to navigate without missions to get out of deep space?
The devs are also not always that responsive to emails.
But still this game seems really awesome so i will certainly check it out
and pledge a few bucks (especially since it now finally seems to be
possible to use paypal with kickstarter(!)
Perhaps its good to spread the word to applevis forums and audiogames.net
as well.
Thanks again,
Greetings, Anouk,

Well most people who have Iphones or Android and an interest in space
fairing will know Star Traders. Whether in it's free Rpg form or paid
Elite form, it's a highly complex game that places you as captain of a
spaceship in a hostile galaxy, trying to survive against ruthless
pirates, rival factions, and hostile aliens, exploring planets, trading
goods and investigating mysterious rumours in your attempt to survive and
thrive in the void, a game that has had repeated access updates to make
it more vo friendly as well as huge amounts of new content added on a
regular basis.
Well Trees brothers, the developers of the game are promising a bigger,
badder and better sequel featuring more complex combat, a huge galaxy to
explore, lots of npcs and a revolutionary new quests and rpg system as
well as a full scale soundtrack with lots of good ear candy to entertain
you when your giving those indipendents what for or dodging alien hives.
The problem is, it won't happen without your help.
No, it's not just buying all that Water fuel to keep your mutinous crew
happy or saving up for the mighty battle prow thatt requires you to dip
into your captains finances, such things happen off earth too.
Star traders 2 will need your help in the form of financial donations via
Kickstarter to happen. Lots of rewards are available in particular the
chance to try out a new version of the game as soon as it's ready,
whether you donate a lot or a little, anything will help.
So for a full list of features and a chance to donate visit the
startraders 2 kickstarter on http://www.tresebrothers.com/kickstarter
Or, (as happened to me), if the internet aliens decide to cause trouble
reaching Kickstater, use http://www.tresebrothers.com/kickstarter/paypal
to donate via good old paypal.
The clock is ticking, so if you want the chance to really help a
developer who is commited to offering access to some truly unique and
highly complex games, this is the time to step forward and show your
support.
