Well, that was certainly the case, for about four years the only thing I knew how to do with a laptop was load up word and write stuff, and save things in my documents or on floppies. but actually, there was so much more fun stuff I could've done with my laptop even before the internet was really a major thing, ---- text adventures, games for doss etc. At least I'm making up for lost time now, and at least now if anytthing does go splirky, i don't have to completely panic and find a tech expert streight away but can have a vague go at fixing things myself. but having the confidence to play around with windows and learn things took me a while.
