She was actually sent to his brother Epimetheus, but Prometheus tried to warn him. Pandora's Box came from the fact that she came with the box containing the Miseries as they were called. Epimetheus was supposed to open the box after they were married, although another version of the story says that Zeus actualy warned her not to open the box knowing full well that she would ultimately become too curious to resist. Zeus was actually looking for an excuse to punish Prometheus of course and he used his attempt to warn Epimetheus off of Pandora as that excuse.

Hi Brian,
Yes. In most versions of the myth, Athena simplywon, and turned Arachne
into a spider because of her portrail of the gods. I have heard the one
where Arachne won, though. Athena was apparently so mad she turned Arachne
into a spider for losing. I even heard one version of the Pandora myth that says the gods sent her as a punishment for Promethus bringing us fire. Only
question left is: howin the world did it become Pandora' box?

Best Regards,
Hayden

Although she did have something of a temper from what I recall, and a
tendency to cheat in all the contests I've ever read about. Arachne was a
case in point, although you're right in that she definitely didn't kill her.

I seem to recall that in one version of the story Arachne actually won the
weaving contest. In another she did lose because Athena used the clouds as
weaving material. Either way of course Arachne ended up as a spider. LOL. I
suppose Ares would probably have killed her without even giving her the
opportunity to prove herself.

Hi muhammed,
Correction. I didn't say the boss battle between you and Athena
wouldn't be a battle. What I said is it is a contest of skills not a
battle to the death. If you knew a little more about Greek mythology
you would know Athena, the goddess of wisdom, likes engaging her
adversaries in a contest of skills rather than outright combat.
Killing opponents isn't her forte. That's more like her brother, Ares,
who is the god of war. He is into the fight to the death thing, but
not Athena. Although, she is a warrior god in her own right. She just
uses her head more, and uses brains over brute force.
