Actually to clarify;

The reason one might want to purchase the game rather than just use the
shareware demo is so that you can have the original music and go beyond the
first episode (4 maps) and finish the single player game, which has four
episodes. I believe you can actually find the music and all of the game maps
online though, in various places, though I haven't checked for them.

Now, having said that, all of the online features (such as team play and
deathmatch) are available with the shareware demo, so if you want to play with
real people, then you need not search for or purchase anything.

HOpe that makes sense.

Now, as for accessibility; -much more than a demo is accessible. The complete
online experience is accessible to enjoy and all of the standard game maps have
the Audio quake access features, (as well as do hundreds of user created maps
as well)

So the game is quite playable, if I'm understanding people correctly.

Anyway, hope this helps and have a great day!…

Smiles,

Cara :)

Hi Hayden,
Yes if you want all the features. One reason is, as I recall, even
though the Quake source is open source the sounds, graphics, music,
etc are not and must be purchased or something like that. I don't
remember all the whys and why nots, but it is something like that as I
recall.
