Johnny Tai is right about the key combination. If you press down the mouse button to run, then hold shift or control while letting go of the button the game won't recognize it. This is actually because of the new custom key file and I need to fix it. Basically releasing the button with one of those keys held down makes it look like you're trying to do a new action.
