I think charles maybe this is something where I'd need to see it done correctly.

The british version I watched in the 90's struck me as rather pointless, because the only real difference I could see in giving questions rather than answers was the inclusion of "who is" or "what is" which really didn't seem to make a massive difference, like instituting a rule in a quiz that before every answer the contestant must say "tomatoe"

The quiz shows I always enjoyed were those where the questions and intellectual challenge was all about the specific style of the question that quiz show asked, ---- for instance in block busters, where all the questions were represented by a letter on the board and would be the form of "what n, is the city where leading members of the nazi party were tried in 1945, also famous for it's exhibition of an Iron maden"

the answer of course being neuranberg.

Actually i rather miss quiz shows like this, as these days it seems most are game shows with people playing random party games, and the questions they ask are pathetically easy, (one reason I don't have a tv license anymore).

Although it doesn't make much of a difference as to whether you ask the appropriate question or give the appropriate answer, it the slight oddity that does make the difference. Another way to think of it is this: Spaghetti is spaghetti, any way you look at it. But the sauce can make the difference.

Hi tom.

I don't remember the money risking format, which probably explains why the british version never worked.

I can see how the suspense and people betting would make a huge difference, after all that was why Who wants to be a millionare got to be so popular watching some greedy individual risk everything on one answer.

As regards the question and answer format though, I'm afraid I'm still a little confused as to what makes such a difference? as I said, I never really saw how inserting "who is" or "what is" changed the format of things that much, sinse you'd still be looking for one peace of knolidge that hooked up with only one other peace of knolidge, and might as well be answering a question.

Beware the Grue!
