Indeed, changing *all* the codebase to do 4 would be not ideal, and would
leave a lot less space everywhere, after a few levels. If it was just for
continuation lines that'd be less of a problem.
I would be happy to do 79 rather than 80 as a line limit, if that is the
PEP8 standard (but that doesn't solve this issue).
