 I demand a separate patch for every change. OK, just kidding :-) But
some  "logical" splitup would make reviewing and applying a bit easier.

 As for your comments: I definitely agree wit "libmetrics" belonging
into top-level. "srclib" would then be solely external stuff that we
want to eliminate anyways.
