As you know, the CLOCC is a strange beast.  Essentially there is a core 
of code that is maintained by Sam plus a number of other bits and 
pieces that are maintained by other people.  I guess that no response 
does not mean that the asd files are not wanted.  It just means that 
the different authors have other to-do lists in their hands.

In the case of the systems I maintain on the CLOCC, I'd say that only 
CL-CONFIGURATION (which is - I admit - suffering from a bit of bit rot) 
requires a asd file.  The others are quite basic utilities which I 
wrote in order to support "defsystem" utilities, e.g. CL-ENVIRONMENT 
(which instead is well maintained, at least in CVS).  Hence they come 
with their own specialized loader/compiler script.
