He turned the country onto running, back in the Eighties, but dropped dead by the side of a road during a run. Heart attack. A lot of people -- most of whom were looking to excuse or rationalize their own lack of activity -- took a kind of perverse pleasure in not just his death, but how he died. Fixx obviously exercised a great deal, but according to what I read, he thought exercise alone was sufficient to ensure a healthy life. An autopsy reportedly revealed that his coronory arteries had blockage of 95, 85, and 50 percent. So, all I am saying to Oliver (who I assume was joking anyway about eating "all the dessert you want" if you run) is: I love your sense of humor and reading your posts every day, and hope to keep reading them for years to come. Take care of yourself and be selective with what you eat. Running alone doesn't guarantee anything. Go Gators!!!! Ken B.
