Woohoo! Count me in! I'll be traveling, so anything I bring will be a
"pick-up" at a local Publix. Just let me know what to bring, and the
time and place. I can also bring the GatorNet signs and officially turn
them over to you, Steve.

I was in Mecca last week (twice), but didn't stop for pleasure. I was on
my way to Tampa to bury my mother. Now, I'm on a "pilgrimage" (on my
bike, of course!) to Kentucky to research my roots.

It's ironic. Last week I visited my dad's grave in Tampa and now this
week, I'm visiting his birthplace in Catlettsburg, KY.

Randy

One of the 'perks" that Randy let me know comes with this gig is being
"in charge" of the semi-annual picnic.

With that in mind, I'd like to hear some (serious!) opinions from the
group as to what, if anything, we'd like to do to observe that tradition
during this upcoming football season.

I believe that there have been two such events to date. I wasn't present
at the first one, but did attend the last one, hosted by Randy at the
Paynes Prarie State Park, following the infamous loss to Ole Miss (the
Tebow "promise" game). I believe that the first one was funded by
GatorNet through donations and proceeds from the now defunct web site.
The second may have been partially funded the same way, but I suspect
that Randy paid for some/most of it out of pocket. By the way, I'm not
that benevolent! :)

If there's enough interest, I'd really like to able to do this when
Randy is available, and the only game that he knows he'll be able to
attend will be the one against Kentucky on 9/25. I don't know what his
plans for the day are, so that could be a moot point - read on...

It wasn't until yesterday that they announced the time for the game - it
is scheduled for a 7:00PM kickoff.

I understand that many of the folks on this list that attend games
regularly have their own game day traditions that they may not want to
deviate from.

That being said, here's one idea - For the last couple of seasons I have
been tailgating by Lake Alice, across the street from the bat house. If
there's interest in doing so, I'll be willing to bring a grill and cook
burgers and bratwurst. Others can bring a covered dish and we can have a
lunch time gathering.

Any interest/thoughts/alternative suggestions?

Steve
