FreeBSD. Yes, it's an ELF platform. For the record, the behavior as I've shown occurs with GNU ld. % ld --version GNU ld version 2.15 [FreeBSD] 2004-05-23 -- http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=42568
