So -O1 or -Og is often better for all of debugging and compilation speed and runtime performance. That aside, I don't feel strongly about whether this is done at -O0. Somebody will want the other choice whatever we do. The unique_ptr discussion seems off topic here, let's keep the more general discussion to PR 104719 please.
