GCJ supports them because Sun's javac supports them: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/tooldocs/windows/javac.html Sun's javac seems to have the same semantics as that you describe (options, source files, etc.) while GCJ seems to support only source files in "@file" files.
