Although two new points occur to me;

1. Although the freedesktop.org spec describes Development as "An
application for development", GNOME puts these items in a "Programming"
menu which is clearly not appropriate.

2. Debian's pcb package contains a desktop file submitted by one of our
users; it uses the following:

Categories=Education;Electronics;Engineering;

gerbv uses the same (as provided by Stefan, not added by Debian).

This results in these items going in the main Education menu, which is
clearly not right either.
