Ali and Andreas put in the effort to get the patch compile on OS X. LLVM
team recently (two months back) released version 3.3 which provides
support for TLS. Hence, we can now run with the same code on both Linux
and OS X. In addition, Ali and Andreas also wrote a Barrier class that
uses only C++11 constructs, so we do not need to use pthread's barrier.
I think we can get at least this portion in to the repo. But other changes
which allow us to have different cores and caches running on separate
threads is further away.

Awesome! It might be a few days before I have a chance to look this over,

Thanks, Nilay!
