I believe that TLS support was added to Alpha, but m5threads was never fixed to support Alpha correctly after that change. It can probably be done with a few days works.
There are instructions on the wiki about how to mount a disk image and copy files on to it. You should just start with one of the ones we have on the download pages and add you files there instead of building one from scratch.
