It's one of those situations where they tried to make very affordable equipment (a.k.a. cheap), so they skimped on quality. I know that the Ditto tapes use rubberbands, which easily snap.
I've never messed with Jaz drives, but I did get a letter to join a class action lawsuit agains IOMega about their Zip drives... Unfortuanly, I've always felt that you get what you pay for. For middle of the road, Travan's arn't bad. I think that most are scsi, though, but I picked up a scsi card at CompUSA for around $35 a few months ago... I'd love to have a nice DLT drive at home though. :) Ricky -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Tim Fournet Sent: Wednesday, October 31, 2001 6:28 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [brluglist] Backup Tape Drive Ooh, Jaz drives are bad bad. IMO, stay away from any Iomega products. On Wed, 2001-10-31 at 17:42, Jeff Crosby wrote: > I paid around $80 for the 2Gig Ditto Tape backup that I had. The tapes were > close to $30 a piece.
