I don't know about that... I am buying 50 GB tapes for about $90 a piece. The drive costs $2400 for a LVD SCSI. That is ~$2 a gig. A hard drive can be had for around $2 a gig also. $200 for a 100 gig drive nowadays. You buy one of those drive caddies for about $20 and you have an easy way of swapping out hard drives and then set the backup drive on the shelf. With the hard drive you do not have the initial expense of a tape drive. Course I am not a math major.. so I could be worng :-P
