SAMBA will handle all the Windows access requests and is effectively a full Windows Domain controller so you can permit or deny access to the shares from any Windows based system, it can control print services, and Windows login accounts too - most Windows users will never know that they're not running on a Windows box. The web site is here - http://www.samba.org - however, I do wonder if you really *need* all of this for a home based network... but if you do, it works well, giving you full control over who has access to what.
