The biggest difference was going from 32-bit to 64-bit on either platform. If you're running 32-bit you will definitely have all the problems you mentioned, Windows seems to suffer the most with heap fragmentation in that scenario. Keith L. It's not a fair comparison because the hardware and usage is different, but I wonder if moving to RedHat would improve things - maybe MarkLogic is more optimised for RedHat?
