Although I have not tried this, you might be able to do this with xdmp:http-get.

Looks like I answered my own question (note the file and server names have been
changed for the purposes of confidentiality):

 [1.0-ml] XDMP-INVSCHEME:
xdmp:document-load("ftp://ftp.server.org/zipfile.zip";, <options
xmlns:http="xdmp:http"
xmlns="xdmp:document-load"><uri>/load-test.zip</uri><repair>none</repair><permissions><sec:...</options>)
 -- Invalid protocol scheme: ftp

Hi folks,

I know that a document can be inserted from a web page using xdmp:document-load
given its URL, but will this also work with an FTP site?

Thank you!
