A little random but, for future consideration, approval voting
generally leads to saner results than IRV.

It's very counter-intuitive to me, but I've been told by people
smarter than myself that it's a pretty well accepted result. It's not
perfect, but nothing is as proved by Arrow's Impossibility Theorem
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arrow%27s_impossibility_theorem)
