Hi Cliff,

This is indeed good news! Congratulations! I am a lurker in the J forums and purchased your 2nd Edition a few years back. I have never had the time to learn J to the extent that I'm comfortable with the syntax, but that is now on my short New Year's resolution list. I have done quite a bit of fractal programming in C and Python (Python is great because of the complex number routines built-in!), but J appears to be even more versatile in this regard.

To make a long story mort short, I've just purchased the 3rd Edition (coil-bound) from Lulu. Was it written in LaTeX? One final question: I also tried to purchase the download version at the same time as the coil-bound version so I could have the book now, but the listed price of $9.22 translated to the full price of $52.00 at checkout. Is this an error? Anyway, the coil-version is in production and will soon be on its way. I will also get the download version if the $9.22 price is eventually correct.

Cheers, Best Wishes, and Congrats!

I am pleased to say the third edition of my Fractals, Visualization and J book is now available. I published it with Lulu which allowed me to use full color throughout the book and keep the price low ($52). In additional to the use of color throughout and a full update to J6.01, the third edition represents revisions throughout the book based on my experience with teaching three classes since the last edition and includes substantially more material on image processing and automata (so there is one more chapter).
A table of contents may be found at
http://ww2.lafayette.edu/~reiterc/j/fvj3/index.html
It is available perfect bound (recommend this to your library)
http://www.lulu.com/content/635966
ISBN 978-1-4303-1980-1

or Coil bound (if you want it to lay flat -- I will recommend this to my students)
http://www.lulu.com/content/635938
no ISBN for the Coil version

Apologies for the semi-spam, but it is a happy day for me
Best, Cliff
