I support the proposed changes and will continue in the stewardship role for
scheduled irc discussions, aka "irc office hour". 

In principal, I agree that it is best to move face-to-face water cooler
discussions to irc where they are logged, have a wider audience, but are still
real-time interactive, but that we try to build a culture where the more
substantive discussions that lead to decision making take place here in the
mailing lists.
