Hi Guru,

When I right-click to copy link location of the "display at UCSC main" link,
this is what I see:

http://main.g2.bx.psu.edu/datasets/1030775/display_at/ucsc_main?redirect_url=http%3A%2F%2Fgenome.ucsc.edu%2Fcgi-bin%2FhgTracks%3Fdb%3Dhg19%26position%3DchrM%3A72-73%0A%26hgt.customText%3D%25s&display_url=http%3A%2F%2Fmain.g2.bx.psu.edu%2Froot%2Fdisplay_as%3Fid%3D1030775%26display_app%3Ducsc%26authz_method%3Ddisplay_at

Splitting off the value of redirect_url and CGI-decoding all "%XX" occurrences,
this is what I see:

http://genome.ucsc.edu/cgi-bin/hgTracks?db=hg19&position=chrM:72-73\n&hgt.customText=%s&display_url=http://main.g2.bx.psu.edu/root/display_as?id=1030775&display_app=ucsc&authz_method=display_at

A couple notes:

1. There is a newline after the position string (position%3DchrM%3A72-73%0A -->
position=chrM:72-73\n) I'm not sure what ucsc_main does after CGI-decoding its
redirect_url parameter, but it is possible that the link string gets split up
like this?

http://genome.ucsc.edu/cgi-bin/hgTracks?db=hg19&position=chrM:72-73
&hgt.customText=%s&display_url=http://main.g2.bx.psu.edu/root/display_as?id=1030775&display_app=ucsc&authz_method=display_at

-- if only the first line is sent, you'll get a browser view without the custom
track.

2. There is a %s in there (hgt.customText%3D%25s --> hgt.customText=%s).  That
wouldn't cause the track to not appear, but the doc would be just "%s".

Hope that helps,
Angie
