Hello, Carl.

It looks as if your browser has gotten into some unusual state. The Table
Browser is looking for a custom track that does not exist. The path you
refer to is on our system, not yours.

Did you load a saved session before trying to use the Table Browser? We
have sometimes seen this error in conjunction with loading saved sessions.

I would suggest performing a cart reset. This is simple to do and solves
the problem in most cases. It is also worth noting that if you loaded any
custom tracks, you will have to reload them if you perform a cart reset. If
you do work with custom tracks, it is good practice to create saved sessions
to avoid losing them in this manner. To perform a cart reset, perform the
following steps:

1. Browse to http://genome.ucsc.edu

2. Click "Genomes" in the blue navigation bar at the top of the screen

3. Just underneath the drop-down boxes to select clade, genome and assembly,
click the "Click here to reset" link

4. Click "Tables" in the blue navigation bar at the top of the screen to see
if the problem is solved

If this does not solve the problem, try using a different browser such as
Internet Explorer, Chrome or Safari to see if the problem is limited to
Firefox.

Please contact us again at [email protected] if you have any further
questions.

Subject: [Genome] unable to browse tables in firefox

Dear All,

I'm unable to browse the UCSC genome browser tables via my firefox browser
due to denied write permissions, and I'm hoping you can identify which
folder on my PC is the culprit.

Steps to reproduce the error in my firefox browser are:

1. http://genome.ucsc.edu/
2. Click on the "Tables" menu item.
3. Observer the following error message:

"Can't open ../trash/ct/ct_genome_cdb_a3c920.bed to write: Permission
denied"

Can you tell which folder is the parent folder ".." in the above message?

Thanks in advance.

Best,
Carl
