It turns out that alternative-install-on-other-systems wiki page provides
information that deviates from the standard handbook.  So you bounce out
of that page into the standard handbook and get to gamble.  If you're
lucky you won't have missed anything between the two versions and will
have a running system at the end of the day.  If not, that's why I have
the other system running just in case I have to hit the silk.
