different machine (powerbook 6,8), same problem here.  It happens with
the 2005.1 install disk, and also with many kernels between 2.6.12 and
2.6.14-rc3.  For example, with 2.6.14-rc3, "video=ofonly" gives me
something like the above message and so does "video=rivafb".
"video=nvidiafb" makes the machine poweroff instantly.

There were reports of a similar problem with a recent Fedora Core
install disk.  On the Powerbook6,8 the kernel got up to "setup_arch:
enter" and stopped.
