Just FYI, this experimental boots on my e450, but only after disabling the 4th 
Gb of memory as suggested by Pengi in the forums:

Presumably that's the silo issue.  Now to see if I can fix my root volume... :)

Yeah, dm-mod is a 2.6 (and lvm2) thingie.
For 2.4 you use lvm-user (instead of lvm2) and lvm-mod (instead of dm-mod).
If you want 2.6/lvm2 you can try my experimental (as in doesn't work on
many machine models and i know and i'm not about to fix it atm since
it's silo having issues) livecd @
