Hi Tom, You could use rc-update to add dhcpcd to the default run-level:
rc-update add dhcpcd default And then, when you wanted to remove it: rc-update del dhcpcd default Cheers, Anthony. -----Original Message----- From: Condon Thomas A KPWA [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: June 17, 2003 3:51 PM To: Gentoo-Users (E-mail) Subject: [gentoo-user] Simple stupid question I know this is probably mentioned somewhere, but I don't know where. Whenever I boot I need to enter: dhcpcd eth0 before my ethernet will come up and recognize the network. Simply starting the dhcp daemon? But where would I put this to automate it? Or, alternatively, what would be the smart way to automate this? Especially keeping in mind that once the system is set up it will then use a fixed IP and not have access to the internet. I'll have to change back when that happens. Thanks for any suggestions. In Harmony's Way, and In A Chord, Tom :-}) Thomas A.
