There could be other applications/modules that will no longer work because
of Apache 2

Is mod_perl 1.99.09 ready to be unmasked for apache2?

I also believe that mod_auth_mysql is no longer being developed, but I could
be wrong about that.

And then do the configuration files stay the same or are there massive
changes with that also? With the new mpm modules, there will no doubt be
changes to the config. Can I select the perchild MPM for apache 2? This is
the only real advantage I see in Apache 2 which would allow items like PHP
to run as a different user than Apache,

There are probably more reasons on why NOT to do this with apache.

I would rather see apache 2.0 ebuild renamed to apache2 , so if we wanted to
use apache 2.0 we could, than make a mistake like this.

Emerge apache2 instead of just apache

As for MySQL 4.0, this wont be a big deal, just re-emerge anything that
depends on MySQL and that's about it.
