Number one piece of advice is to turn off ACPI. There are two specs for acpi - 
one from Intel and one from Microsoft. One of them is open and one is closed 
- can you guess which is which? Anyway, the kernel team are fighting to get 
both supported which occasionally (especially recently) has been breaking 
compatibility with both.
