That's correct.
BTW to get automatic full logging of emerge output, make a directory at /var/
log/portage. Emerge will automatically detect its existence and log each package. Be aware that this directory can get quite big quite quickly, however.
OK I will # mkdir /var/log/portage
I am testing Gentoo 1.4 on a 40G hard drive. I think space is not a problem, thanks. I will continue the test after fixing the problem of X window
