That's very strange indeed. 
I had a look at www.keyserver.net and couldn't find my key there
even though you can read in the FAQ...

In order to have multiple key servers provide access to the same keys, the key servers 
must share updates among themselves. An incremental mechanism propagate updates 
between servers. You need to send updates to just one server, and the update will be 
spread to all the other key servers.
Each key server keeps a list of other key servers with which it shares updates. 
Whenever a key is added or changed by a user or by an incremental from another key 
server, this change is propagated to all the key servers.
For performance and reliability, key servers have been established all over the world. 
If this server becomes temporarily unavailable, you can use other key server to look 
up keys.
