Why does it fail ( connection error ? , not found on server ? ) ? Are you using the portage snapshot from the LiveCD , or have you downloaded the current tree with emerge --sync ? Which LiveCD are you using ( 2004.3 ? ) ? Are you using some sort of local mirror for downloading sources ?
