I found I had to do so. I couldn't get Neil's prererred layout to work. I forget the details now, but I only managed to build a usable system by leaving a small unformatted partition before the VFAT /boot partition. The first partition is marked bios_grub and the second 'boot, esp'. I did try later to combine the two, but I still couldn't get it to work. Perhaps the BIOS has something odd in it. -- Regards, Peter.
