This will usually cause a fatal server error. I suggesting editing xorg.conf and pointing the mouse a /dev/input/mice. If that doesn't help, the contents of /var/log/Xorg.0.log would be the most useful thing for us to see. -Richard -- gentoo-user@gentoo.org mailing list
