Can anyone tell me why the latest Gentoo uses initramfs but it is loaded by GRUB using initrd?
I though the initramfs was to be compressed into the kernel image? kernel /boot/kernel-genkernel-x86-2.6.15-gentoo-r1 root=/dev/ram0 init=/linuxrc ramdisk=8192 real_root=/dev/sda3 udev initrd /boot/initramfs-genkernel-x86-2.6.15-gentoo-r1 -- gentoo-user@gentoo.org mailing list
