general filtering support, the bbox idea, the template idea, roll your own
small templating, and so on,
none of them requires to shave off proper filter encoding, they are all
based on the idea that you can
do a first level filter against the original data, and then a secondary
filter (the filter the user actually expressed
in SLD/CQL/Filter encoding) that would do the final shaving off.
