Thanks for the answer, currently the server is a local one, even if data is opendata. I just published the WMS layer. Even the layer preview in OpenLayers is blank; I tested the same query with the same data directory on geoserver 2.15.2 / 2.15.5 / 2.16.2 and 2.17.0 : Works well on 2.15.2 but not on the others : something must have changed between 2.15.2 and 2.15.5 that creates the issue. I can share the tif file if you want.
