Hi everyone,

I have also been working for one of our clients on a swing component
to visualize data, as the JMapPane was not fully satisfying our needs.
The component we developed mainly introduces two things compared to
the JMapPane as it existed at the end of last year :
- the renderer calls are done in background, so that when you do
something on the map the GUI doesn't freeze
- the renderer computes an image that is X times bigger than the
component. This way, when you move the map, you can see immediately
the surrounding of the zone you were watching, while the new map
extents are computed in the backgroung. It works like Google Map :
when you move the map, the surrounding zone is already loaded.

I proposed my client to contribute this code to the geotools community
and he agrees on the principle.
I however have some questions regarding how to do it :
- is there a standard procedure for contributing a component ?
- what should i do to contribute ? Is there a special packaging ?
- what become of the intellectual property of the code ? Does my
client keep it or ihas it to be given to the community ?

Thanks
Benoît
