I will have a look at this

The component might be standalone. We implemented it starting from the  
JMapPane but ended with something really different. So maybe it can be  
an alternative widget or maybe its new functions can be integrated  
with the existing JMapPane.

I am currently very busy with other projects, which is why I may not  
be very reactive, but I will contact Michael Bedward to discuss with  
him about th different possibilities
