It would be really good to get users' feedback about this.

My preference is to keep the example pages synched to version 2.7 at
the moment because we hopefully soon have a milestone release which
everyone will flock to, attracted by the promise of wonderfully clean
code...

When version 2.7 takes over from 2.6 as the stable branch we keep the
docs in synch with it (ie. the website is built from the branch rather
than trunk). Meanwhile, any new docs or edits for the new development
version (2.8) will be edited separately.

If we could do that we would then be in a position to generate pdf
docs that are in synch with each stable release.
