Speaking of Geoparsing -- are there other free services that do
geoparsing like pipes does?

What i've been using lately is yahoo pipes. It lets you take any
craigslist feed and run it through a term extractor to find locations
and makes an output as georss, with display as a map.

it works, and a version could be made for every craisglist feed, but
right now it's kind of hard to find. Most people don't do it. I for
one found it invaluable when i was looking for an apartment.

ps, full disclosure, i did a very small bit of work on pipes to help
it launch...
