The first Shaw's Jirds we obtained were bought from a petshop that had
no idea what they were. Neither did we! We knew they were gerbils, but
had not seen anything other than Mongolians at that point. All they knew
was they came from Geoff Izzard. The petshop gave us the number from
their book and we spoke to him. The petshop said they were a pair of
males. We soon realised that they didn't know how to sex them either!
