It sounds like Speedy is a nervous first time mom. If things are as poor as
you say, then I would foster the three pups to Crystal. Eight pups are
nothing to handle. She has plenty of milk and seems to be a very attentive
mom.
Before placing Speed's pups in Crystals nest, take some of the nesting
material from under the foster moms pups and gently rub the new pups with
it. It is also a good idea to rub your own hands in Crystals nest. This way
the new pups will have the foster mom's scent on them.
This is the best time to foster a litter, within a week of delivery. Crystal
should have no problem accepting the new additions. Another reason for
fostering is that these pups are far too young to thrive on milk
replacement, let alone survive.
